After surviving a sexual assault, Gabriela was sterilized by ruling of a judge, without being asked. This surgery does not prevent any further sexual abuse in the future.

Cristina has an intellectual disability and got pregnant as a result of an incestuous rape. She didn’t want to keep her pregnancy, but she didn’t have access to legal abortion. Not wanting or being able to care for her baby, her lawyers raised the case to the court to place the baby for adoption. The judge ruled that the baby must stay with her.
